School of Health Sciences

Welcome to the Middle Georgia State College School of Health Sciences (SOHS). We are glad that you have taken the time to visit our web pages and to learn more about our quality degree programs.

There has never been a more critical need for health care providers in our communities. The ever-‐changing demographics of our communities and population have resulted in an increased need for health care professionals. Many states continue to experience shortages of health professionals and Georgia’s need is among the greatest. The shortage of registered nurses alone, for the state of Georgia, is projected to be 80,000 by the year 2020. Innovation and revolutionary changes in the way health care is delivered is resulting in exciting teaching and learning methodologies.

In January 2013 a new college, Middle Georgia State College, was announced after a consolidation of Macon State College and Middle Georgia College. Currently the SOHS offers classes on four campuses: Cochran, Dublin, Macon and Warner Robins. We offer Associate and Baccalaureate degrees in specialty programs designed to provide qualified graduates with beginning and expanded practice roles in varied health care settings. Associate degrees are offered in Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistants and Respiratory Therapy. Bachelor’s degrees are offered in Health Service Administration and Nursing. The RT/BS and RN/BSN Completion Programs are available for licensed respiratory therapists and nurses seeking further career and professional advancement.

Please contact us regarding questions or to request more information about the academic programs of your choice. We look forward to meeting you and assisting you toward a rewarding career in one of our health career programs.
