Summer Scholars Program

The Summer Scholars Program is a unique opportunity for high-achieving students to get a jumpstart on their college career in an immersive, engaging environment. Students earn six hours of core curriculum credit through four weeks of online summer instruction and a month-long, high impact campus experience, culminating in an optional service-learning trip to Savannah, Georgia.

Summer Scholars 2018:

Theme: Exploring the Georgia Surreal. Students will examine why Georgia artists often infuse their work with the mythic, mystic or mysterious and how history has affected the landscape, the people and the culture.

Locations: Macon and Cochran (limited seats available on each campus)


  • Online components available May 30, 2018
  • Campus instruction June 25 - July 24, 2018
  • Optional Service Learning trip to Savannah July 24 – July 27.

Curriculum: choose two thematically-related courses from the list below:

  • ENGL 1101: English Composition I
  • ENGL 2132: American Literature II
  • ARTS 1100: Art Appreciation
  • ENGL 1102: English Composition II
  • HIST 2112: U.S. History Since 1865
  • SOCI 1101: Introduction to Sociology
