The mission of The Center for Career and Leadership Development is to engage students and graduates in career-focused activities so that they have the tools and knowledge needed to make obtainable, well-informed decisions regarding their professional development. The Center for Career and Leadership Development also aims to educate employers to ensure they are aware of the community engagement opportunities offered while encouraging the fulfillment of vacant positions with MGA students and graduates. Appointment Request

The Center for Career and Leadership Development provides no-cost career advising to currently enrolled students at all five campuses as well as alumni. We can meet with you in-person or virtually.  Topics include exploring career options, major exploration, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, job/internship/graduate school search, negotiating job offers, professional attire, LinkedIn, and more.  To get started, email us at .

To connect with all Career Development opportunities and thousands of employers seeking college talent, make sure you start with Handshake!  All employers who wish to recruit MGA students for jobs and internships post their opportunities on Handshake.  To claim your student account, use the MGA Handshake link.  Handshake is a national network of employers and graduate programs who recruit at college campus so this means you have access to over 400,000 employers and graduate programs and 5,000+ job and internship postings.  Plus, students have access to all campus-wide CCLD events, career and leadership handouts, and email updates on immediate employer needs.

Graduate/Professional School

Deciding to attend a graduate or professional school is a big decision. Keep in mind that MGA has added several graduate programs and offers information sessions through the Office of Graduate Studies each semester. Below are several resource that may assist you in preparing for this new experience.

Request a Presentation

The Center for Career and Leadership Development is available for classroom and student organization presentations at all five campuses. To be able to extend this service to all campuses, we do ask for requests to be submitted early in the semester.  Student organizations and academic departments are also encouraged to partner with us on programs that we traditionally plan each semester such as our etiquette dinners, career fairs, resume review days, employer mock interview events, and more. Click Here to Request A Presentation

The Professional Closet

Students from any MGA campus are invited to shop gently used clothes and accessories at The Professional Closet in Cochran (Sanford 112) or Macon (SLC 261). Faculty, staff, and students can also donate gently used professional clothing to each location. All donations are tax-deductible. Hours of operations are consistent with business operating hours for the university. We accept cash and check.

Professional Headshots

Students and alumni may receive a professional headshot at no charge to use for their LinkedIn and Handshake profiles.  Students may also find these headshots useful for portfolios, email accounts, and other virtual tools they use in the professional world.  Please contact The Center for Career and Leadership Development at  or 478.471.2714 to reserve your session.

The SHARE Pantry

SHARE stands for Serving, Helping And Respecting Everyone. The SHARE pantry is stocked with staple items such as canned tuna, peanut butter, oatmeal, soap, etc. Students, faculty and staff who show their MGA Knight ID cards can visit once per month to pick up five items each time. Macon SHARE pantry hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday in SLC 114. Cochran SHARE pantry hours are 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday in the Student Center. Those needing services outside of the established hours can contact the Macon Student Life office at 478.471.2710 or the Cochran Student Center at 478.934.3152 to make an appointment.
