Meet the Team

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is here to help faculty with all of their pedagogical and classroom needs. The CETL also supports faculty understanding and use of the learning management system (LMS). With over 40 years' combined experience in online learning, as well as an extensive knowledge of learning theory and best practices, we offer a variety of services, including development workshops, individual consultations, course reviews and LMS training.

 

Dr. Darryl Hancock, Director

Darryl Hancock brings 12 years of secondary teaching experience and 16 years of higher education experience to the center. He holds degrees from Florida State University, the University of South Florida, and Georgia Southern University. Dr. Hancock has delivered over 60 workshops to USG faculty and administrators on topics including instructional methods, course design and development, facilitation, assessment, and multimedia incorporation.

Andy Davidson, Director of Instructional Design

Andy Davidson has taught fully online since 2004. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction from the University of Mississippi, where he developed and taught online courses in Creative Writing, American Literature, and Southern Literature. In addition to his full-time duties with the Center as an instructional designer, he currently teaches part-time for MGA's English Department. He has worked in the field of instructional design since 2007.

Garima Banerjee, Instructional Designer

Garima Banerjee has worked as a Learning and Development Manager, Instructional Designer, and Trainer and Coach for various multinational organizations. She holds an MPhil and a Master's Degree in English and a Post Graduate Diploma in Instructional Design and has over 11 years of experience in Instructional Design and Learning and Development. She is passionate about creating interactive learning solutions and eLearning courses that make a difference.

Lana Kempton, Instructional Technologist/Assistant LMS Administrator

Lana Kempton holds a master’s degree in Instructional Design, Development, and Technology from the University of Georgia. She is also a graduate of our very own Middle Georgia State University where she has worked since 2012. Lana delivers workshops and training opportunities on instructional technologies such as our LMS to faculty, staff, and students.

Amanda Smith, eCORE Coordinator/Assistant LMS Administrator/Admin Assistant

Amanda Smith studied Business at Heart of Georgia Technical College, now Oconee Fall Line Technical College. She has worked at the University since 2007. She assists with LMS helpdesk requests for students and faculty, as well as coordinates eCore program course listings. She is married to Chris Smith and has four children: Lance, Logan, Jax, and Luke. She is a lifelong resident of Cochran, Georgia.
