Welcome
Welcome back to Knighted: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Undergraduate Research! This
second annual edition brings together student scholarship from a variety of disciplines including
English, history, biology, education, and film. Knighted showcases the breadth and depth of
undergraduate research at Middle Georgia State University. The Council for Undergraduate
Research says that student research should make “an original intellectual or creative contribution
to the discipline,” and we think that the promising scholarship assembled in the pages that follow
does just that. From new understandings of ancient North America to the latest literary
phenomena and much more, we were intrigued and impressed by the students' work and we
hope you will be, too!
