- Interview Applicants are required to do a face-to-face onsite interview with the program director or a select screening committee. The program also maintains the option of arranging an online interview via Skype or a similar software. It is up to the applicant to create a Skype account, if needed, and in all other ways make themselves available for an interview as part of the required application process. Applicants should prepare as they would for any professional interview, including attention to attire, a setting that is free of distractions, and lighting and sound that are adequate. The program recommends testing the connection before a Skype interview. Applicants and interviewers should arrange ahead of time to determine which party will call to make the connection at the designated time. There are several sites that provide tips on setting up successful Skype interviews, which the program recommends for applicants to review as part of their thorough preparation. Interviews will be 15 to 30 minutes long.

Master of Science in Occupational Therapy
Master of Science in Occupational Therapy Program
The MSOT Program admissions process will be managed through the Occupational Therapy Centralized Application Service (OTCAS). If you are using OTCAS to apply to other programs, please note that the MGA MSOT Program has specific requirements. Only those applications that follow the specific instructions will be considered complete in OTCAS. See the MSOT Program web page for more information regarding the application process.
Admission Requirements:
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 or above
- All prerequisite courses completed with a grade of C or higher
- Minimum of 84 semester equivalent credits (includes courses from OTA degree and prerequisite courses) from an institution that is accredited by a USDE recognized accrediting agency; 43 of these hours must be OTA courses
- Proof of a minimum of 1 year of full-time work experience as a licensed COTA (or a minimum of 1,500 hours as a fully licensed COTA)
- Current résumé or curriculum vitae
- Statement of professional goals (professional philosophy/educational desires; 300 – 500 words)
- Two Letters of Recommendation (professional and/or academic)
- Copy of current U.S. occupational therapy assistant license and NBCOT certification

The Master of Science in Occupational Therapy Program at Middle Georgia State University has been granted Candidacy status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 6116 Executive Boulevard, Suite 200, North Bethesda, MD 20852-4929. The program must have a pre-accreditation review, complete an on-site evaluation, and be granted Accreditation Status before its graduates will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT®). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). In addition, all states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses (including Georgia) are usually based on the results of the NBCOT® Certification Examination. Note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT® certification examination or attain state licensure. Master of Arts in Public Relations
Program Admission Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree from an institutionally accredited college or university
- Evidence of aptitude for success in graduate-level studies

In addition to the above Office of Graduate Studies requirements, students applying for the Master of Arts in Public Relations program must meet the following admission criteria and supply the following materials:
- Evidence of a 2.75 GPA (undergraduate)
- Letter of application that states the applicant’s interest in and goals for the program

Master of Arts in Teacher Education with Initial Teacher Certification
The MAT program is cohort based and admits students every spring and summer semester. Admission into the MAT program is competitive and is granted on a space available basis. We may not have the enrollment capacity to accept all eligible applicants. Therefore, meeting the minimum GPA and GACE scores does not guarantee admission. Our specialization content areas are here . Students must:
- Be admitted to Middle Georgia State University (MGA) in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher on all courses to include transfer, transient, or taken as a part of a prior degree. Students who have not met all requirements for admission but have a cumulative GPA between 2.5-2.74 may submit a letter of appeal as part of their application. Disciplinary action at MGA and/or any other institution that the student has attended or while in the military may prevent admission.

- GACE Content Exam Provide passing scores at the Professional Level ( 250 or above) on all GACE content area assessment for your prospective area of certification. Students should update their MyPSC accounts at www.gapsc.com to request appropriate GACE Content scores be submitted to MGA.
- Georgia Educator Ethics Assessment (360) Provide proof of completion.
- Complete a GaPSC Pre-Service Certificate application which includes the verification of lawful presence. The School of Education and Behavioral Sciences will request a Pre-Service Certificate from the GaPSC for the prospective candidate. The decision to issue the Pre-Service Certificate resides solely with the GaPSC.
- The prospective student will be notified in writing (via email) by the Teacher Education Program of his or her acceptance and will be referred to as a “graduate intern.”
- Upon acceptance, provide a clear criminal background check through HR Tru check .
- Graduate interns must be available during regular public school day hours for practicum and clinical.
- Upon acceptance, graduate interns must present proof of having liability insurance.
- To acknowledge their understanding of its requirements, graduate interns must sign their program of study and contract agreement. Deviations from the program of study without prior consent from the Graduate Program Coordinator or Chair of the Department of Teacher Education and Social Work will result in dismissal from the Teacher Education Program.
- If a graduate intern cannot obtain a GaPSC Pre-Service Certificate, acceptance into this program will be revoked.

Testing Requirements for Applicants
- In order to gain eligibility for testing you must create or update your MyPSC account at www.gapsc.com using your legal name as shown on your ID documents you will present on the day of testing.
- For the GACE Content Assessments select reason #3 “I am taking a content assessment to gain eligibility for employment and plan to complete a state-approved program such as GaTAPP, a certification-only program, or a Master's degree with a certification program embedded.”
- For the Georgia Educator Ethics Assessment (360) select reason #7 “I am taking the Program Exit level of the Georgia Educator Ethics or the Georgia Ethics for Educational Leadership assessment.”
- You must add the program (Middle Georgia State University) as a score recipient.
- ETS will send you an email with a link to the requested assessment.
- Access the assessment system, select Test Takers under Registration, create your account, and register and pay the fee online.
GACE Content Assessments: Student must pass at the professional level (250 or above) on all areas of GACE content assessment. Visit the GACE ETS website for testing schedule dates and score reporting windows.
GACE Ethics Assessment (G360): The Georgia Ethics assessment is computer delivered via the web-based Georgia Ethics assessment system. Designed for beginning and currently practicing teachers, the Georgia Educator Ethics assessment (Test Code 360) focuses primarily on scenarios that could occur in the day-to-day life of a teacher in a classroom. The Georgia Ethics assessments are reported as "Passed" or "Not Passed." Once you have successfully passed the assessment, you will be able to print a certificate that indicates your status.

Official Transcripts
Transcripts should be requested at least a month before the deadline and must be received either as a sealed document via the mail or e-scripted and accessed by Graduate Admissions through a secure access code. Official transcripts should be requested from each institution in which an applicant enrolled, regardless of credit earned from that institution. This may include, but is not limited to traditional enrollment, dual-enrollment, transient, transfer, graduate, and post-baccalaureate credit.
Previously enrolled MGA students do not have to pay the $5 fee to request an official transcript. The Office of Graduate Admissions will print a courtesy transcript for your application packet
Letters of Recommendation
Letters of Recommendation are typed letters from academic or professional sources on letterhead. Letters must be signed and then faxed, mailed, or emailed to the Office of Graduate Admissions by the reference.
Document of Lawful Presence
According to USG policy, individuals who apply must submit documentation of US citizenship or permanent residency before being considered for in-state tuition. Follow this link for more information: Documentation of Lawful Presence.
Certificate of Immunization
