JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for advising students and parents via phone at a more advanced level that enrollment support team representatives regarding financial aid related questions and concerns.  This position reports to the Enrollment Support Team Manager.

 MAJOR DUTIES:  

  • Performs as second point of contact for more advanced assistance when referred by enrollment support team representative.
  • Advises students and parents regarding availability of financial aid, the eligibility requirements and the application process via phone and or e-mail correspondence.
  • Coordinates with applicable financial aid staff when required to resolve complaints or issues.
  • Responsible for coordinating timely responses for all student correspondence/messages received via phone and e-mail as needed.
  • Assist students with problems/ issues related to usage of the Campus Logic verification portal.
  • Assists students in the application process for financial aid by helping them to complete appropriate and required forms.
  • Updates information in the financial aid computer system.
  • Determines accuracy of certain documents and interpretations of these documents.
  • Reports to work as scheduled by immediate supervisor.
  • Logged into the Ring Central portal daily to monitor call volume and help to manage along with enrollment support representatives(s) to ensure optimum efficiency levels.
  • Returns student/parent calls related to escalated issues when applicable.
  • Performs other related duties and day-to day operations requirements as assigned by supervisor.

 KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:  

  • Knowledge of modern office methods, procedures and equipment.
  • Some knowledge of current institution, Regents, state and federal regulations pertaining to the collection, maintenance, and release of information.
  • Ability to successfully establish and maintain effective working relations with other employees.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and institutional financial aid programs, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the Banner financial aid module.
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
  • Skill in oral and written communication

 SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Enrollment Support Team Manager assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

GUIDELINES: Guidelines include moderate knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations that pertain to the awarding and disbursing of federal and state aid. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.

  COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK:  

  • The work consists of varied financial aid advising duties. Strict regulations contribute to the complexity of the position.
  • The purpose of this position is to provide assistance to students in matters pertaining to financial aid policies, procedures and processes. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the college’s financial aid processes.

 CONTACTS:  

  • Contacts are typically with co-workers, other college employees, students, parents, representative of student loan companies, representatives of federal agents, and members of the general public.
  • Contacts are typically to provide services; to give or exchange information; to resolve problems; or to justify, defend or negotiate matters.                                                               

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table.

 SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: None.

 QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for two or more years.

 COMPENSATION CLASSIFICATION:  

  • This position is non-exempt.
  • Pay grade 14.
