About the Georgia Center of Innovation for Aerospace: The Georgia Center of Innovation for Aerospace acts as a catalyst, creating opportunities for aerospace companies and their suppliers by connecting them to new technologies, university research, potential business collaborators and current industry information.  The Center advances recognition of Georgia’s strength in the global aerospace industry and contributes to the entrepreneurial and education ecosystems required for continued growth. 

JOB SUMMARY: Interested in making an impact on Georgia’s economy?  If you are a junior or senior and pursuing a degree in Aviation, Media, or Education, then the Center of Innovation for Aerospace has an opportunity for you to contribute to Georgia’s Aerospace Industry.  As an intern with the Center, you will learn about the aerospace industry, aerospace workforce issues and aerospace at all education levels (from Pre-K to Post graduate).  You will conduct outreach to educational programs and develop content for an aviation education asset map.  In addition, you will develop content for social media.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

General (1): Research and collect information on formal and informal aviation/aerospace education opportunities/resources for grades K-12 from the aviation/aerospace associations in Georgia and other sources of aviation/aerospace related education.  Additionally, research and collect scholarship information for graduating high school seniors and for college students enrolled in an aviation/aerospace curriculum, as well as any scholarships available for professionals.

Specific: Conducting online research, filling out templates with responses, calling schools and companies to gather information, and gathering the data into usable formats, slides, spreadsheets, etc.)  Data includes points of contact (POC) to include name, email and phone for all aerospace programs, and a short description of each program they are offer (in-school curriculum, formal/informal after school program, camps etc.)  For the aerospace associations, include their mission statement.  (Program description and mission statement may have to be written by the student intern.)  

General (2):  Gather information/material regarding both current events and aerospace history to develop social media content.  The goal is to highlight Georgia aerospace and generate interest  in aerospace activities and aerospace history.

Specific:  Examples: C-130 birthday information and aviation history dates and data points for use in social media (Wright brothers, moon landing, first female pilot, first person to fly in GA , first Black pilot, etc.)

General (3):  Working requirements

Specific:  Work 6-8 hours per week during normal business hours (9am-5pm) while school is in session. Provide occasional administrative support as required. This position will be remote from the office in Atlanta. The intern will check-in/check-out everyday with the COI-A supervisor (the Senior Industry Engagement Project Manager). 

Additional information:  Scripts will be provided to the intern to ensure conversations are consistent and all appropriate information is provided to the Points of Contact mentioned above.  Standard templates will be provided to the intern to ensure consistent data is collected from each POC. 

Travel requirements:  Normal work will occur on the student's MGA campus.  Some travel in local area could be necessary.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate student (Junior or Senior) working towards a bachelors' degree in Aviation, Media, or Education.  A minimum of a 3.0 GPA is required.
  •  Ability to contact and speak professionally with leaders within the education and business sectors of aviation/aerospace
  • Be a self-starter and have the ability to work remotely
  •  Ability to research information and conduct outreach to various organization via initial and follow-up phone calls and e-mails
  •  Ability to use/log information into Salesforce.  
  •  Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  •  Detailed-oriented, organized, enthusiastic, responsible, and reliable.
  •  Proficient with Microsoft Office
  •  Excellent writing, grammar, and editing skills
  •  Ability to use digital communications technology and social media platforms. 
  • Must be a current enrolled MGA student.
  • Must be enrolled in 6 or more semester hours per semester.
