Middle Georgia State University is seeking candidates for an Administrative Assistant. This position is responsible for providing administrative support for department operations.


• Processes student and parent concerns, complaints and appeals; makes appointments for students to meet with deans to review appeals.

• Coordinates the utilization of classroom and conference room space.

• Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; takes messages; makes appointments; refers to appropriate personnel.

• Coordinates appointments for Assistant Vice Presidents.

• Maintains office files and records in both hard copy and electronic format.

• Updates the college catalog; enters faculty and course information; uploads course syllabi.

• Drafts and proofreads correspondence.

• Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. Skill in prioritizing and organizing work. Skill in the use of such office equipment as a computer, scanner, fax machine, and copier. Skill in oral and written communication. Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of university and departmental policies and procedures.

SALARY: Pay Grade 12
