Description:

Middle Georgia State University is seeking candidates for a Location Manager. The Location Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Cochran Campus Store. This position works with the Merchandiser to create attractive displays and ensure an organized sales floor. The Location Manager also oversees sales floor customer service, the facilitation of sales, efficient and accurate point-of-sale transactions, shipping and receiving for the Cochran Campus Store, and sales floor merchandise and recovery.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Store Operations

• Oversees all daily operations of the Cochran Campus Store.

• Efficiently utilizes the Campus Store point of sale system to facilitate sales and maintain accurate inventory.

• Responsible for shipping, receiving, updating prices, processing web orders and stocking inventory.

• Maintains a clean and organized store floor, stock room, and cash wrap with sufficient supplies for each day’s business and communicates all supply needs (shopping bags, register tape, etc.) to the Merchandiser on a regular basis.

• Organizes and sets textbook shelves for each new semester.

• Completes textbook and merchandise returns as needed.

• Assists in performance of end-of-day closing procedures, including sales floor recovery, reconciliation of cash drawers, performing system closing procedures, and securing retail and office areas.

• Assists in completing daily deposits for the Cochran Campus Store.

• Manages any technical issues with Nebraska Book Company and/or the Cochran Campus I.T. Department.

• Assists in training, supervising, and scheduling of any worker in the Cochran Campus Store. This includes full-time, part-time and temporary staff.

• Communicates effectively with other campus stores and Cochran Campus Administration.

• Represents the Campus Store at Cochran orientations.

Customer Service

• Greets and acknowledges customers as they enter and exit the Campus Store.

• Assists customers in selecting the correct course materials and suggests other items of interest to customers.

• Ensures that customers understand the refund/exchange policy and deadlines at the time of purchase.

• Provides customer feedback and customer requests to appropriate members of management and/or the Merchandiser to ensure that the store’s inventory mix appeals the overall campus community.

• Provides excellent customer service to all faculty, staff, students, and guests.

Other duties assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years of retail or customer service-related experience, or relevant combination of education and experience. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Cash handling skills; knowledge of basic retail cashier experience; knowledge of merchandising displays and inventory control; knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office Suite, and Outlook; strong organizational and time management skills; attention to detail; effective oral and written communication skills; excellent customer service skills; suggestive selling skills; ability to interact effectively with a diverse population; flexibility in working hours; ability to work independently and on a team as needed; and ability to supervise, manage and train others as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s Degree preferred. 1-3 years in a University environment. Familiarity with higher education retail preferred. Familiarity with bookstore systems.

SALARY: Pay Grade 15
