Middle Georgia State College is seeking students to be hired as MGA Knight Mascots. Students will perform try-outs specifically for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Perform as “Duke the Knight” at Community appearances and MGA events including, but not limited toathletic events.

-Commit to appearances at campus and community events to promote school spirit.

-Assist in creating routines for promotional entertainment.

-Distribute MGA promotional items designed to help increase school spirit and attendance at games andevents.

-Personally interact with Knight students/faculty/staff and fans.

-Work events as required throughout the year, including summer if applicable.

-Maintain “Duke” costume.

REQUIREMENTS: Ability and commitment to work scheduled event dates, including outside of semesters if necessary; ability and commitment to work extensive night and weekend schedule as required; **and the successful student must be currently enrolled at MGA in good academic and disciplinary standing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Motivated individual with the desire to gain experience in enhancing school spirit.

-Outgoing and creative personality with a willingness and desire to have fun.

-Willingness to perform wacky promotional activities on-court and in the community.

-Willingness to represent MGA, and our mission and core values, in a positive manner on and offcampus.

SELECTION PROCESS: Selected applicants will be required to try out for the position by performing a creative routine in the mascot costume. Based on the tryouts, a committee will choose the student(s) who will fulfill the role of “Duke the Knight”. All decisions of the Committee will be final. After the initial selection process, the annual “Duke the Knight” try out will be held before the end of the spring semester to select “Duke(s)” for the following year. First-semester freshmen and seniors who intend to graduate the December after the spring-semester selection are not eligible to try out for the position. The term of service is for one year, July 1-June 30. Students may be “Duke” more than one year, but must participate in the selection process each year.

APPLICATION PROCESS: Interested students must submit a completed application package which includes: an MGA application and résumé that includes any applicable experience and two references who can verify the student’s qualifications.
