Description:

The Residence life Coordinator (RLC) is a full time professional, twelve-month, live-in position. The RLC supervises other residence hall staff including Community Assistants (CA) and Resident Assistants (RA). The RLC provides guidance, conflict resolution, and administrative services in a residence hall setting. As a live-in member of the residence hall staff, the RLC works with students in developing a safe and comfortable living-learning environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately maintain all housing administrative records related to students in assigned hall. Turns in all required paperwork within given timeframe.
  • Oversee, in conjunction with other housing staff, the overall general upkeep and facility care of the assigned hall, including regular walk-through tours of the residence hall building to effectively monitor the conditions of the facilities.
  • Provides direct supervision to up to twelve undergraduate Resident Assistants. Ensures daily contact with the RA’s of each hall for the purpose of exchanging information, discussion of ideas, problem solving, and advising in regards to working with residents and miscellaneous needs.
  • Meets with RA staff both in a group and individually to facilitate communication and provide support and direction.
  • Supervises and monitors the accurate maintenance of key records, including all room and master keys.
  • Selects, trains, and directly supervises front desk staff for assigned hall.
  • Oversees residence hall visitation for assigned residence hall in accordance with Housing and Residence Life procedures.
  • In conjunction with Campus Police and Physical Plant personnel, coordinates the scheduling of fire drills once each semester.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Residence Life and Assistant Directors, recruits, selects, trains and evaluates student RA’s.
  • Oversees programming and in-service requirements for residence hall staff.
  • Serves as the official advisor to the hall council with respect to activities, and budget management.
  • Participates and assists with Fall and Spring training workshops.
  • Performs other related duties that promotes the mission of the residence life program and the University as required.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Serves as investigator for student conduct cases and Title IX investigations, as instructed by the Chief Student Conduct Officer and Title IX coordinator, to include, but not limited to, investigating alleged violations of the MGA Student Code of Conduct; investigating Title IX complaints; providing Student Conduct Officer and/or Title IX Coordinator a written summary of the investigation; and to provide statements; as needed, during student conduct hearings or Title IX hearings.
  • Serve, as available, as a member of the institution’s Assessment and Care Team, to review cases involving students demonstrating behaviors of concern to themselves or the campus community; to offer recommendations as to course(s) of action; to review admission applications for students who have indicated they have prior felony convictions.
  • Assist and coordinate with the development and implementation of Greek Life programs and other initiatives.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor’s degree is required. One (1) year of experience in residence life. Demonstrate commitment to student learning and collaboration with students, faculty and staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master’s degree preferred. However, consideration will be given to individuals who have a comparable combination of formal education and applicable life and work experience. Preferred candidate will possess residence life, co-curricular, and student leadership experience.

SALARY: Position Grade 12
