Description:

Middle Georgia State University is seeking candidates for a Veterans Certification Specialist. This position is responsible for the coordination and certification requirements for Veterans Educational Benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Records and reports veteran student data.

• Monitors veteran student enrollments to ensure compliance with program requirements.

• Records changes in student enrollment status.

• Monitors veteran student accounts to ensure proper scholarship crediting.

• Maintains and tracks changes to program policies and procedures; reviews certification handbook; monitors program Web site.

• Orients new students to program policies and procedures.

• Monitors veteran student grades to ensure compliance with program requirements.

• Establishes new student files.

• Assists with external program audits.

• Responds to questions and concerns from students; provides information and assistance.

• Assists in the completion and processing of out-of-state tuition waivers.

• Attends conferences and training sessions to remain informed of program policy or procedure changes.

• Refers students to other internal or external resources.

• Processes Middle Georgia State University transient student documentation.

• Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Technical skill with computer databases. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong sensitivity to privacy concerns and willingness to adhere to all confidentiality requirements. Experience with highly detailed work and evidence of meticulous work practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of one year’s experience in record keeping, auditing, Registrar, or Academic Affairs functions. Experience in Higher Education highly desirable. Knowledge of Veterans Administration policies and procedures and experience working with veteran populations. Experience with Banner Student Information System and DegreeWorks.

SALARY: Pay Grade 14
