As the chief academic officer, the Provost and VPAA provides strategic vision and academic leadership to advance the institution’s mission and goals, while being dedicated to the success of faculty and students of Middle Georgia State University (MGA). This executive officer promotes the goals of an affordable access University with a blended function and is committed to fostering a culture of academic teaching and learning excellence across the University.

The Provost and VPAA represents the University’s academic endeavors with key constituents, including the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia and elected officials. In the President’s absence, this senior administrator serves as the chief executive officer.

At President Christopher Blake’s request, Dr. Patrick Brennan and Ms. Tamatha Lambert will serve as co-chairs of the 2020 MGA Provost Search Committee. The Search Committee is made up of the following members:

  • Mr. Anderson Ligon – School of Business/Athletics
  • Dr. Richard Kilburn – School of Computing/Faculty Senate
  • Dr. Daniel Guerrant – School of Education and Behavioral Science
  • Dr. Donna Balding – School of Health and Natural Sciences
  • Dr. Melinda Robinson-Moffett – Enrollment Management
  • Mr. Josh Waters – Office of President/University Counsel
  • Dr. Mary Roberts – Student Affairs
  • Ms. Keisha Fields – Advancement
  • Ms. Amanda Funches – Fiscal Affairs
  • Ms. Vicky Smith (ex-officio) – Human Resources

Additionally, Ms. Vicky Smith, Executive Director for Human Resources, will be an ex-officio member of the Committee, advising on matters of search protocol, USG/MGA policies and other HR-related matters.
