Criminal Justice Bachelor's Degree Coming This Fall

The program is geared toward traditional students interested in careers in law enforcement, as well as nontraditional students already in those fields who want or need bachelor's degrees to advance. Some of the coursework will be available online. On-site classes will be taught on the Cochran, Macon and Warner Robins campuses.
"This new four-year program takes advantage of Middle Georgia State's proximity to federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies," said Dr. Peter Makaya, dean of the School of Social Sciences. "We plan to provide a rigorous course of study that will prepare students to work successfully with police agencies, federal agencies, the courts and the corrections system. The degree is also good preparation for graduate school."
Career options for people with bachelor's degrees in criminal justice include law enforcement officers and administrators, correctional officers and administrators, juvenile counselors, parole officers and investigators.
Some of the junior- and senior-level coursework includes "Organized Crime," "Forensic Psychology," "Terrorism" and "Criminal Procedure and Evidence."
With the addition of the criminal justice program, the number of bachelor's degrees offered by Middle Georgia State comes to 20. Middle Georgia State was created in January 2013 through the merger of the former Middle Georgia College and Macon State College.
