SkyCamp
Middle Georgia State College's aviation campus in Eastman is once again hosting SkyCamp for students ages 10-14. This year's SkyCamp will take place from Tuesday, June 25, through Thursday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

SkyCamp's purpose is to interest kids in aviation careers. Participating students will have opportunities to explore weather, history and physics of flight; learn aircraft maintenance; build and launch rockets and gliders; use flight simulators; tour an air traffic control tower; fly in an aircraft and launch a space balloon.

The cost is $100 per student, which includes all lunches. Michael G. Newton, the campus's chief helicopter pilot who is directing the camp, said a Middle Georgia State organization of helicopter students called Rotorheads raised money to sponsor about 10 kids from the Eastman community to attend the camp.
