Arts Fest Salutes "Legends of Middle Georgia"

"A Tribute to Legends of Middle Georgia" is the theme of the 2014 Arts Festival at Middle Georgia State College. All events take place on the Macon Campus and are free and open to the public. For more information, email Dr. Kelly Whiddon at kelly.whiddon@mga.edu.

Here is the lineup of events:

2 to 3:15 p.m. Monday, March 24: “Sidney Lanier,” discussion presented by author and historian Jim Barfield, Education Building, room 231.

2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25: “Picturing Macon,” discussion of their new pictorial history of Macon by Stephen Taylor and Matt Jennings, Middle Georgia State history professors, Math Auditorium.

11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26: “Flannery O’Connor and Criminal Neglect in Middle Georgia,” discussion presented by Bruce Gentry, O'Connor scholar, Arts Complex Theatre.

2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26: “Fall Line Review Release Party 2014,” when Middle Georgia State
students will read from their works in Middle Georgia State's literary journal. Refreshments served,
Arts Complex Theatre lobby.

3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27: “Juried Art Exhibition Opening Reception,” where artwork of Middle Georgia State students will be displayed. Refreshments served, Arts Complex Theatre.

6 p.m. Thursday, March 27: “Arts Festival Keynote" by Scott Freeman, author of biographies of Otis Redding and the Allman Brothers, followed at 7 p.m. by “Otis Redding Tunes and More: the Music of Middle Georgia,” live music. Refreshments served. Professional Sciences & Conference Center banquet hall.
