Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Commission recently recognized Derrick Catlett, arborist for the Middle Georgia State College plant operations department, for his community service work.

Catlett works closely with the commission when it holds National Planting Day and Arbor Day events on the Macon Campus. He was also the project manager for the recent revitalization of Third Street Park.

In addition to his regular job of managing the Waddell Barnes Botanical Gardens on the Macon Campus, Catlett volunteers his time with the Friends of Tattnall Square Park to help with tree-planting and consultation. He is certified as an arborist by the International Society of Arboriculture and he is a Georgia Certified Landscape Professional. Catlett has worked at what is now Middle Georgia State for nine years.
