Knights Player Named To Gold Glove Team

Knights second baseman Will Jones of Cordele was named to the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Team for the 2014 season. Jones was also named to the Gold Glove teams for the East Central District, Region 17, and the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association of the NJCAA.

Jones was the regular starter at second while starting one game at shortstop and one at third this season for the Knights. In addition to his infield play, he pitched 27.2 innings in 20 appearances going 2-1 as a pitcher while tying for the team lead in saves at 7. During all his time in the field, Jones racked up 85 put outs and 130 assists in 222 chances for a .968 fielding percentage on the season. He also turned 31 double plays and was part of the Knights only triple play of the season. In addition to his outstanding defense and pitching, Jones batted .316 with an on-base percentage of .388 this year batting second the entire season for the Knights.

Jones received accolades for his defense for the second straight year having won the GCAA/Region 17 Defensive Player of the year in 2013 as well as being named to the All-Conference Second-Team and Gold Glove Team for the 2013 season.
