MGA's School of IT Recognized at International ABET Symposium

Middle Georgia State's School of IT was recently recognized at the 2015 International ABET Symposium held April 23-24 in Atlanta. The school's self-study report was nominated by ABET program evaluators and selected by ABET Symposium organizers as a well-prepared information technology self-study report. The report was on display during the event for other attendees to view.

The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredits college and university programs in the disciplines of applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology at the associate's, bachelor's and master's degree levels.

With ABET accreditation, students and employers can be confident that a program meets the quality standards that produce graduates prepared to enter a global workforce.

Developed by technical professionals from ABET’s member societies, the criteria focus on what students experience and learn. Sought worldwide, ABET’s voluntary peer-review process is highly respected because it adds critical value to academic programs in the technical disciplines, where quality, precision and safety are of the utmost importance.

In addition, Dr. Kevin Floyd, School of IT chair, and IT student (now graduate) Sarah Hollifeld were invited to attend a reception sponsored by ABET. At the reception, Hollifield spoke about her experiences as a student at an ABET-accredited institution.

The bachelor of science in IT program at Middle Georgia State has been accredited since 2007. The most recent site visit occurred in October.
