Miguel Carmona, Business major and SGA president, aspires to a career in corporate marketing and philanthropy.

Full Name: Miguel A. Carmona III.

Age: 22.

Hometown: Barnwell, S.C.

Residence: Macon.

High School: Howard High School, where he was a member of the football team, BETA, FBLA, DECA, and National Honor Society.

Family: Father, Miguel A. Carmona Jr.; mother, Willa M. Carmona; sister, Courtney S. Carmona.

Current Employment: Middle Georgia State Office of Student Life.

Degree Objective: Bachelor of Science in Business with a Marketing concentration.

Class Rank: Senior.

Primary Campus: Macon.

Activities: “I’m the SGA president, the communications and promotion officer for the marketing club, member of student conduct board, member of the first football club and the University’s first homecoming king.”

Career Goals: “In addition to being a marketing executive, I hope be a pivotal part of my community by joining a local church and by setting up multiple charitable organizations to feed the homeless, help abused women and educate troubled youth.”

He chose Middle Georgia State because … “At first, because it was closer to home. However, after my family moved to Texas shortly after my arrival, I learned my true reason for choosing MGA. It was the sense of community. I have made lifelong connections that I wouldn’t have made if I had stayed at my previous college. I chose this school because of the overwhelming opportunities that MGA has to offer - from career services to multiple clubs and organizations to student jobs. Staff members are willing to go the extra mile for you.”

The one thing that surprised him about Middle Georgia State was … “How it pulls so many people from Georgia and around the US and even overseas.”

His favorite place to study is … “My room. I love the solitude and the fact that I can transition from studying at a desk to studying on the bed. Also, if I decide to play music while I study I can do that without interrupting others. It also allows me to multitask - I can grab a bite to eat or start a load of clothes while I’m studying.”

One thing people don’t know about him is … “I’m an avid reader. I’m currently working on the top hundred books to read in a lifetime. Reading is a big stress reliever. I love learning new things.”

His friends make fun of him because … “I’m a fitness fanatic, so if I eat anything unhealthy they make a big deal out of it. For instance, if I decide to get fries or fried chicken (rare occasions) they make a big fuss about it. I can’t even go out to eat without my girlfriend judging me on my choice of food. It’s a good thing and curse at the same time.”

The one person he’d most like to meet is … “My grandfather. I never got a chance to meet him because he died way before I was born. Being half Puerto Rican, I don’t fully know my culture and I think my grandfather would be able to answer a lot of the questions. I never had a grandpa and I always wanted to know what it was like to have one.”

Five years from now he sees himself …. “Working in Atlanta as a top marketing analyst or marketing manager at a firm like ESPN or Cartoon Network. I also hope to be working on my doctorate and building connections with other professionals to setup my charitable organizations. I see myself married to my love, MiCaila Reid, and traveling the world with her.”
