Cybersecurity Education Center Part of Black T-Shirt Cyber Forensics Challenge

The Black T-Shirt Cyber Forensics Challenge is an annual contest designed to address a variety of elements important in conducting today's digital forensics examinations, incident responses and intrusion analyses. Anyone may participate as an individual or as part of a team of up to three members.
"This sort of large scale challenge allows students in Middle Georgia to prove their knowledge and skills are on par with the rest of the world's," said Johnathan Yerby, director of the Center for Cybersecurity Education and Applied Research. “The School of IT will continue to expand opportunities for students and others to learn and make connections in the highly specialized cyber forensics industry.”
The challenge will award cash prizes up to $250, as well as Amazon Web Services gift certificates and the highly sought after black t-shirts. The challenge will include:
• File system and operating system identification
• Recovery of operating system and application artifacts
• Recovery of user-created artifacts
• Conducting in-depth analysis across the system and scenario, which extends beyond
artifact recovery
• Event reconstruction
• Report writing
Each challenge, designed by one or more of the academic and corporate partners, varies in degree of difficulty.
Registration for the challenge begins on January 1, 2016. Contest entries are to be submitted by April 1 and results should be announced during the first week of May. The registration site is cyberforensicschallenge.com/registration/
