Career Goals: “My career goal is to become a dentist. I enjoy going to the dentist while others fear it. The first thing people see on a person is a smile and I would like to help them build confidence in that smile. I would be the first doctor in my family and it would be the realization of my mother’s dream.”

She chose Middle Georgia State University because … “Anderson Ligon believed in my talent on the basketball court and my determination in the classroom. I was part of the freshman class that changed over to a four-year athletic league. I wouldn’t change my choice of coming here because I enjoy the small, tightknit environment and being able to be close to home. When I was searching for a school, that is exactly what I was looking for and I found it at Middle Georgia State.”

The greatest thing she discovered about Middle Georgia State was … “How helpful and friendly the faculty and students are. I have met some extremely good-hearted people, including the whole basketball team and staff, Señor Prados, Mr. Wright and Dr. Huddleston. I don’t think I could have found that at a bigger university.”

Her greatest academic experience so far has been … “Making the President’s List. This is such a high achievement for me because I have so much on my plate most of the semester, having to balance school work and other activities. Usually, people in my shoes wouldn’t be able to handle all of that.”

To her, “greatness” means … “Being a leader. Trying new things even though it may go against what the majority may say. You have to live to your full potential. Greatness means you set goals and you actually fulfill them. It’s not how you start but it’s how you finish.”

One thing people don’t know about her is … “I am a nerd. I enjoy reading on my spare time. I really enjoy school. I am always joyful to learn something new. I like to strive for the best and I can find this in education.”

The one person she’d most like to meet is … “Cameron (Cam) Newton. Most people would think, ‘Why in the world would this girl would want to meet Cam Newton?’ Cam Newton has overcome so much adversity. He has been in my shoes as a student athlete. He hasn’t had things handed to him and neither have I. I also love the sport he plays, which is football. In the position he is in, he is a positive role model for kids. However, I would like to meet him because I would like to mirror him as being a student athlete and one day being a professional. The only difference between me and Cam is that I would be showing my professionalism in an office instead of the field. He also has an energetic smile. I would like to possess that type of energy in my own education, career and everyday life.”

Five years from now … “I hope to be starting a dental practice. I would like to be able to take care of my mother and have her relaxing. She has done so much for me and my family. This wouldn’t be half the payback she deserves, but it would be a start. And hopefully, I will have found my soulmate to settle down with and start a family.”
