MGA grad Cliff Appleman is now a student Naval Aviator.

Full Name: Cliff Appleman.

Age: 23.

Hometown: Albany, Ga.

Residence: Corpus Christi, Texas.

What he’s doing now: “I am an ensign in the U.S. Navy stationed at Corpus Christi Naval Air Station.”

Middle Georgia State Degree: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Fixed Wing Flight Management, Class of 2015.

Career: “Currently I am a student Naval Aviator, which means that I have recently started Naval flight training. Upon completion I will be designated or ‘winged’ as a Naval Aviator. I love having the opportunity to serve my country while also working in a field that I love: aviation. Wearing green or tan pajamas to work everyday is also a plus (flight suits are very similar to ‘onesies’). I chose the Navy specifically to be stationed near the beach and good seafood restaurants for the majority of my career.”

He credits his Middle Georgia State experiences with … “Preparing me for the Navy by teaching me how to handle a professional training environment. Values I learned there, such as perseverance, dedication and a strong work ethic, are applicable to any profession, especially the Navy. The Eastman Campus, specifically, provided a lot of great opportunities. It was nice to be immersed in an environment fully devoted to aviation. I spent three years there, and served on the Student Government Association in various capacities. I also had the opportunity to volunteer my time with a local volunteer fire department, which allowed me to experience some things that I may not have been exposed to in a classroom environment.”

Five years from now he sees himself … “Still in the Navy, hopefully as a winged Naval Aviator. As of now I have no idea what airframe I will be flying, or even what part of the world I’ll be living in. But I’m very excited to embark on this journey.”
