Eric Miller, a recent graduate of Middle Georgia State University, is the 2018 recipient of the Georgia Learning Resource System's Special Education Impact Award.

The award seeks to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the education of students with disabilities. Nominees are candidates who demonstrate outstanding ability, excellence in performance of duties, and a deep commitment to the education of students with disabilities that go above and beyond expectations.

Peach County Schools Student Services Department nominated Miller, who is in his first year teaching at Hunt Elementary School in Fort Valley. He graduated from Middle Georgia State in 2017 with a degree in Early Childhood Special Education. According to a representative of the Georgia Learning Resource System, it is rare for a first-year teacher to receive the Special Education Impact Award.

The awards ceremony was held in early February at Hutchings College and Career Academy in Macon.
