Thanks to 13 generous corporate sponsors, Middle Georgia State College’s Inauguration Gala brought in more than $60,000 to help fund student scholarships, classroom and program enhancements and quality academics.

The Middle Georgia State College Foundation organized and hosted the gala, which took place Friday, Oct. 17, after the inauguration of Dr. Christopher Blake as the institution’s first permanent president. About 225 guests attended the event, which included a reception and silent auction, seated dinner and musical entertainment by the popular midstate band The Grapevine.

"We are enormously grateful to our corporate sponsors for ensuring the gala's success," said Raymond Carnley, Middle Georgia State's vice president for university advancement and executive director of the Middle Georgia State College Foundation. "Their private financial support makes it possible for the Foundation to help students pay for their education at Middle Georgia State and enhance the quality of their academic experiences. We are especially thankful to Sheridan Construction Company for being our presenting sponsor. All of our sponsors are invaluable partners."
