Criminal Justice major Khayla Stingley, a member of MGA's Orientation Team, is targeting a career in tactical law enforcement.

Full Name:
Khayla Aline Stingley.

Age: 20.

Hometown: St. Louis, Mo.

Residence: Stockbridge.

High School: Dutchtown High School, where she was a member of the Chess Club, Air Force JROTC and basketball team.

Current Employment: Full-time student, Publix cashier, U.S. National Guard.

Degree Objective: Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.

Class Rank: Sophomore.

Primary Campus: Cochran.

Activities: Member of the O-Team, students who assist new students at MGA orientation sessions.

Career Goals: “I want to be a police officer and eventually become part of a narcotics unit in Miami, Fla., or I would like to become a juvenile detention counselor. I think being in law enforcement would be exciting because officers experience something different every day. As a counselor in a juvenile detention center, I would hope to help children learn how to deal with their situations and make better decisions for their futures.”

She chose Middle Georgia State University because … “MGA has the degree I want. I also thought it would be a good idea to get away from home for a while to meet new people and experience a different environment."

The greatest thing she discovered about Middle Georgia State was … “The faculty and staff are really here to help you succeed. They are always helpful, nice and just all-around good people.”

Her greatest academic experience so far as a Middle Georgia State student has been … “Earning a 3.8 GPA my first semester. I was nervous I would not do that well in my classes since it was my first semester, but I ended up doing the opposite.”

To her, greatness means … “Going after what you want without worrying what anyone has to say or think! Being the best that you can be! Fulfilling all your dreams and goals to the best of your ability!”

One thing people don’t know about her is … “I am in the National Guard! Also, I love
Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks, and I love to have fun, laugh and smile.”

In five years … “I see myself pursuing a career in law enforcement, perhaps as part of a TNT (Tactical Narcotics Team).”
