University Adds Software Development to Graduate IT Degree

The graduate program, which the University launched in January 2016, already offers concentrations in Information Security/Digital Forensics and Health Informatics. The new concentration kicks off in fall 2016.
"Software development represents one of the fastest growing IT fields," said Dr. Kevin Floyd, graduate program coordinator for Middle Georgia State's School of Information Technology. "This new concentration will expose students to real-world software design and development strategies and practices that will give them a competitive edge in the industry."
Middle Georgia State's graduate degree in IT is offered fully online. The program requires 30 hours of coursework. The first 15 hours are courses in core information technologies in leadership, strategic planning and research. Students then complete 15 hours in their concentrations. The Software Development concentration consists of:
- Advanced Programming and Data Structures
- Object Oriented Analysis and Design
- Distributed Enterprise Software
- Software Testing and Quality Assurance
- Mobile Computing Systems and Applications
