Graduate Studies

Welcome to the Office of Graduate Studies. If you are a recent graduate or a mid-career professional, we offer several affordable and convenient options for realizing a new career.

Academic year 2019-2020 marks our third full year of graduate education at Middle Georgia State University. In addition to new programs discussed below, we are pleased to announce that we have enrolled a record number of students for summer 2019.

In spring of 2019, the University System of Georgia Board of Regents (BOR) approved a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. As we work through additional accrediting steps, please check this site for program updates. The BOR additionally approved a Master of Arts in Technical and Professional Writing, which will officially launch in fall 2019. Applications will be accepted beginning June 3, 2019. For those students currently enrolled in the graduate writing certificate, completion of that credential will provide 50% of the new master’s degree and easy admission to the program. Also, look for a new social media track in the MSIT degree, which will share courses with the technical writing certificate.

In June 2017, we began our Master of Science in Management (MSM) and our Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT). With our new online format and 8-week session classes, the Management degree is particularly suited to working adults, as well as to recent graduates who seek an additional business degree. Please see the Management site for recent changes in its admission standards. Note that for both the MSN and the MSIT degrees we have dropped the requirement for the GRE.

Coming Changes: Besides new graduate degrees, the University has undergone a reorganization of its academic schools and departments. Please know that this will not affect anyone’s program of study; rather, we anticipate that this new academic structure will help students progress more quickly.

Please call Graduate Admissions for questions about deadlines or other admissions matters. 478.929.6865. On behalf of the Director of Graduate Student Policy & Support Dr. Loretta Clayton and our Admissions Specialist Liz Douglas that we look forward to meeting you.
