The Terry Coleman Museum and Archives collects and makes available for research material and items documenting Speaker Emeritus Terry L. Coleman's political career as a Georgia State Representative. A link to the collection finding aid is available at the bottom of this page.

History

In 2006, Terry Coleman donated legislative office files and memorabilia collected from his thirty-four years in the state legislature to Roberts Memorial Library at Middle Georgia College in Cochran, GA. After Coleman's retirement from the State Legislature in 2006, the collection was first stored at the state capitol in Atlanta, GA, then moved to storage at Roberts Library until The Terry L. Coleman Museum and Archives opened on December 7th, 2007.

The Collection

The collection consists of correspondence, legislative papers, reports from committees and state agencies, general subject files, personal papers, newspaper clippings, photographs, audio-visual material, oversized material, and memorabilia collected during Mr. Coleman's service in the state legislature from 1973 to 2006.

Collection Policy

The Terry L. Coleman Museum and Archives collects documents and photographs pertaining to Speaker Coleman's political career. The Coleman Archives is home to the Middle Georgia State University Archives. Items collected are MGA event documents, publications, pictures, and memorabilia. All items donated to the Archives become the property of Middle Georgia State University.

Use of the Archives

The Archives is located on the main floor of the Roberts Memorial Library at Middle Georgia State University, and is open to the public. Hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to noon on Friday. Summer hours vary. Please call 478.934.3179 to arrange an appointment.

The archived material cannot be borrowed and must be examined in the reading room of the archives. Copies of documents may be provided for .10 a sheet.
