Here’s a glimpse at donor impact: The Viola Harris Memorial Scholarship
In 2024, Gloria Robinson, an MGA alumna and military veteran from the Cochran area, established the Viola Harris Memorial Scholarship in memory of Mrs. Viola Harris, her beloved grandmother. Mrs. Harris was a devoted advocate for education, a selfless supporter of her community, and a firm believer in the transformative power of higher education.
Gloria describes her grandmother as being “more than a matriarch; she was the beating heart of her family.” Mrs. Harris encouraged those around her to pursue their dreams, seek knowledge, and uplift their families and communities. The Viola Harris Memorial Scholarship embodies her enduring legacy, empowering students to access higher education and create a lasting impact. It is awarded to first-generation undergraduates with demonstrated financial need who are pursuing a degree in any field.
Since its inception, the scholarship has changed lives. Taylor R., one of the scholarship’s first recipients, shares how the support has eased her financial burden, allowing her to focus on her studies and move closer to her goals.
The Viola Harris Memorial Scholarship is more than just financial aid — it’s a testament to Mrs. Harris’ lifelong dedication to helping others succeed.
