Kevin Howell Cowart's Aviation Maintenance Career Endowment honors an aviation legacy

With more than three decades of experience in aviation maintenance, including global assignments and leadership roles with Delta TechOps, Kevin Howell Cowart has built a career defined by excellence and dedication. Now, he’s investing in the next generation of aviation professionals through the Kevin Howell Cowart Aviation Maintenance Career Endowment at Middle Georgia State University.

This endowment provides financial support to students in MGA’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program, helping reduce financial barriers for those pursuing the Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification, a FAA-certified training. Kevin hopes to support students who share his commitment to hard work, leadership, and aviation safety.

Kevin’s journey in aviation began as an avionics technician in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he gained the technical foundation and discipline that shaped his career. Later, while working at Delta TechOps, he earned his FAA A&P certification, an achievement that expanded his career opportunities and deepened his passion for aircraft maintenance.

Aviation, however, runs even deeper for Kevin than his own career. His mother and brother both retired from Delta Air Lines, his father worked for another airline, and his stepfather was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. Kevin’s mother inspired his love for aviation. After her recent passing, Kevin chose to use part of his inheritance to establish this fund, so he could witness its impact in his lifetime. Supporting future aviators feels like a natural extension of the legacy his family built.

"Seeing students benefit from these opportunities and knowing it strengthens the aviation workforce is incredibly rewarding," Kevin shared.

Looking to the future, Kevin also plans to donate one-third of his estate to grow the endowment and ensure lasting support for MGA’s aviation students for generations to come.
