MGA Athletics: Building champions on and off the field
What an exciting time to be a part of MGA Athletics, where we build Champions on and off our fields of play. We have shown that not only have we excelled athletically, but we have also set a standard of great success in the classroom. This past fall semester, our 181 athletes achieved a 3.15 grade point average, with 20 student-athletes achieving a perfect 4.0 and 72 student-athletes achieving a 3.5 or higher. We continue to build a strong foundation to represent our University and community and are committed to continuing to develop true Champions of Character.
This past month, we finalized and submitted our application for NCAA Division II status. The NCAA will visit our campuses over the next few months to discuss our pending membership. We look forward to hosting our NCAA representatives, showing off our University’s facilities, and planning for future success.
We look forward to July when we officially join the ranks of the NCAA and the Peach Belt Conference. Please be on the lookout for this announcement, along with other information that we will share with our DII certification, on July 1, 2025.
Our Men’s Basketball team has had a fantastic season. We will be competing in the SSAC Conference Tournament in Montgomery, AL, starting on Thursday, February 27. Baseball, Softball, and Tennis programs are now in full swing as well. All four teams have gotten off to strong starts and are poised to have very exciting spring seasons.
Please check our website—www.mgaknights.com—for tournament times and updates, and for MGA Athletic News and Schedules.
Lastly, we hope you will consider joining us for our 11th Annual Golf Tournament at Houston Lake Country Club on April 28—www.mga.edu/golf. This is our athletic department’s largest fundraiser, and all funds raised go directly to helping our athletes achieve success both in the classroom and on their fields of play.
Thank you again for your support and generosity. Your commitment is helping us continue to build Champions of Character throughout Middle Georgia.
We look forward to seeing you at the games and the Golf Tournament!!
Thank you,
Bobby
