MGA Knights welcome new head coaches

The Middle Georgia State University Athletics Department has welcomed two new coaches: John Green and Cara MacFarland.

Cara MacFarland is the new Head Volleyball Coach. An MGA alum, she returns after over three years at Northwestern State University, where she progressed from graduate assistant to head coach. During her time at MGA, she was a three-time captain and set several volleyball records. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Middle Georgia State University and a Master’s degree in Adult Learning and Development from Northwestern State University.

John Green is the new and first full-time Head Women’s Cross-Country Coach and will also lead the newly formed distance track team, which will compete for the first rime in the spring of 2026. He has a strong background in cross-country and track, having competed at Lipscomb University and the University of Tennessee at Martin. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Performance from the University of Tennessee at Martin.
