MGA scholarship recipient poised to give back
This spring, among some 700 graduates, a remarkable student and recipient of the MGA Foundation General Endowed Scholarship proudly crossed the stage at Middle Georgia State University (MGA) to receive her diploma. That remarkable student was Ke’Lexus Guyton. Reflecting on her achievements and sharing her future aspirations, she offered insight into her experience as a first-genera on college graduate.
For Ke’Lexus, earning a degree holds significance for herself and her family. She feels a profound sense of responsibility as the first in her family to attend college, saying, “I am setting a precedent and paving the way for my younger siblings to follow in my footsteps.”
Driven by a passion to help others and make a positive impact, she chose to pursue a degree in nursing. Graduating cum laude with honors, she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She views her accomplishment as a testament to her ability to overcome obstacles and navigate unfamiliar territory to achieve her goals.
To Ke’Lexus, graduating from MGA means joining a network of alumni who share a common bond and commitment to excellence. This network will provide valuable connections, membership, and support as she embarks on her career. Ke’Lexus starts her next journey with Atrium Health Navicent as a labor and delivery Registered Nurse. Looking ahead, she aspires to earn a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DPN), specializing in neonatal nursing.
Ke’Lexus shares the following message with MGA donors:
“I am incredibly grateful for your support and investment in my education. Your generosity has made it possible for me to pursue my dreams and achieve my academic goals without the burden of financial stress weighing me down. Your belief in me and your willingness to contribute to my education means more to me than words can express. I am committed to making the most of the opportunity and using my education to make a positive impact in my community and beyond.”
