Dr. Mohammad Ali

Biography:	My name is Mohammad Ali and I have a substantial teaching background at different levels and in multiple formats. I hope to contribute meaningfully to student's learning at Middle Georgia State University using this teaching experience. I received my BSc and MA degrees in Economics from Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan and Xiamen University, China respectively. I also hold MA and PhD in Economics from the University of New Mexico. I grew up in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. I am married to Madiha Sadiq who also studied at the University of New Mexico. Together, we are blessed with two beautiful daughters. Outside of my family and work, my favorite activities include travelling, backpacking, trying out different cuisines and hanging out with friends. I also enjoy listening to classic rock stations and watching movies.
Teaching and Research Interests:	As a teacher of economics, my central goal is to help students appreciate the broad scope of economic applications while equipping them with the quantitative and analytical tools necessary to explore those applications rigorously. I view teaching as a dynamic partnership between instructor and student, where the classroom becomes a space for curiosity, critical thinking, and self-reflection. My research focuses on food, nutrition, health, and early childhood development in low-income settings, with attention to how these inputs shape human capital formation. I aim to produce empirically rigorous and policy-relevant research that guides the design of cost-effective interventions capable of improving nutritional, cognitive, and non-cognitive outcomes for children.
