Biography: | Dr. Yookyoung Choi is an Assistant Professor of Art History. She received her MA in Art History from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a P.h.D. in Art History from the University of Maryland, College Park, writing her dissertation titled Globalization and Ethnic Identity in the Art Works of Theresa Hak Kyung Cha, Yong Soon Min, and Nikki S. Lee. Her research focuses on the ways in which Korean American artists negotiate their hybrid cultural identities in the contemporary world. She taught a wide range of art history courses including Modern and Contemporary Art, Contemporary Asian Art, Contemporary Korean Art, and Asian American Art at the University of Oregon, Middle Tennessee State University, and Sam Houston State University.
