Biography: Dr. Alex's academic background includes a PhD in criminal justice from Michigan State University (2003) - America’s oldest, continuous degree-granting program in criminal justice; a Master of Science (MS) degree in criminal justice from the University of NC at Charlotte (1994); Master of Laws (LL. M) and Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) degrees both from the University of Nigeria (1987 and 1983 respectively). Alex is also a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and was called to the Nigerian Bar on graduation from the Barrister-At-Law (BL) degree program of the Nigeria Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos in June 1984.

Dr. Alex taught at various schools within the USG community before accepting a position at Middle Georgia State University where he retired in July 2025 as a Tenured Associate Professor of criminal justice but came back as a Part Time Instructor in spring 2026.
Before hire at MGA in 2015, he served as the first full Professor and Criminal Justice Academic Program Chair (2004 – 2012) at American Intercontinental University Online – then one of the largest online universities in the world. Alex also served as a founding faculty at the first public college in the United States in the 21st century (also the first public college in the state of Georgia in over 100 years) – Georgia Gwinnett College which is a unit of the USG.

Prior to the positions described above, Alex served in the field of criminal justice where he gained extensive experience in various positions in Public Safety Agencies. Among other positions, he served as a Probation/Parole Officer for Michigan Department of Corrections; Investigator, Pre-trial Services for 30th Michigan Judicial Circuit Court; Offender Population Coordinator for the County of Ingham, State of Michigan; Juvenile Detention Specialist for the County of Ingham, State of Michigan... etc

Dr. Alex subscribes, imbibes, and fully supports the Mission and Goals of MGA and believes in student-centered learning. Dr. Alex lives in Atlanta with his family.
