Statement of Teaching

Teaching is a vital part of nursing, and since graduating, I have devoted my career to educating patients, families, communities, and students. To teach is to share knowledge and inspire its application in practice, grounded in the core nursing values of caring and compassion.

My philosophy emphasizes engaging students in their learning, connecting content to practice, fostering critical thinking, and creating meaningful learning activities. I strive to build a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment that is both nurturing and challenging. Open communication is key, and I make myself available through office hours, appointments, email, and virtual meetings while maintaining professional mentor–mentee relationships.

As nursing and education evolve, I adapt my teaching by integrating technology, maintaining structure through syllabi and objectives, and staying flexible when adjustments are needed. Reflection and student feedback guide me to continually refine my approach, as I believe teaching and learning are reciprocal processes.

Ultimately, my goal is not simply to graduate more nurses but to prepare compassionate, competent professionals who will thrive at the bedside and beyond—as leaders, mentors, and advocates for change. I remain committed to growing alongside my students and colleagues to improve patient outcomes and the nursing profession.
