| Biography: | Hello everyone. I'm Jared Johnson, and I'll be your instructor this semester. I've been a practicing social worker since 2014, specializing in healthcare. My experience spans long-term care, acute care, and intensive rehabilitation. I also have prior experience as an emergency room tech and a private sitter at a Level 2 trauma center before earning my bachelor's. I'm a licensed social worker in both Texas and Georgia and a board-certified case manager. When I'm not teaching, I work full-time as the Director of Case Management for Encompass Health in Atlanta. I received my BSW from Angelo State University and my MSW from the University of Texas at Arlington. I’m a Texas native who found a new home in Georgia after graduating. My passion for teaching started early on as a teaching assistant, and I've been dedicated to it ever since. |

| Teaching and Research Interests: | I am a healthcare social work leader and educator with experience in crisis intervention, case management, and interdisciplinary care coordination across acute and rehabilitation settings. My teaching focuses on preparing students for generalist practice through applied, real-world learning, with an emphasis on crisis response, ethical decision-making, and navigating complex healthcare systems. My research interests include trauma-informed care, crisis and disaster management, and strategies to support social work student mental health and self-maintenance. I am particularly interested in bridging academic preparation with workforce readiness, ensuring future social workers are equipped to succeed in dynamic clinical and organizational environments. |
