Biography: Lee Major is a retired State Trooper with 24 years of State service. He retired from the Georgia Department of Public Safety as Post Commander of the Forsyth Patrol Post. As a graduate of the 73rd Trooper School, He began his career at the Forsyth Post as a Trooper. After serving in various ranks such as Corporal in the Headquarters Recruiting Unit, Lee successfully took on the various roles and capacities throughout the Department. He was later promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served as Assistant Post Commander at Post 20 Dublin. Lee later transferred to Post 44 Forsyth post and assumed the position of Assistant Post Commander. Lee was promoted and achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class and transitioned into the role of Post Commander. Lee performed various administrative duties ranging from establishing working liaisons with the local County Sheriff's Departments, Municipal Police Departments, Probate and State Court officials as well as District Attorneys. Lee began his law enforcement career after graduating from the 141st Police Academy held at the ABAC College campus. Lee served as a Police Officer with the Pelham Police Department for approximately two years. Lee has completed advanced Leadership training courses and holds numerous Management and Supervision certifications as well as Accident Reconstruction through the Georgia P.O.S.T. Council and Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Lee Major holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Columbus State University as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice along with Associate degrees in Art and Sociology from Valdosta State University. He attended the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College held at Columbus State University and received a certificate of completion from the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police. Additionally, Lee is a graduate of the 254th Session of the FBI National Academy, held at Quantico, Virginia, and received a certificate of completion with an emphasis on Executive Leadership. Lee has served as an Adjunct Lecturer for Middle Georgia State University since 2014.
Teaching and Research Interests: As an organized and highly creative individual, I enjoy the challenges of working within a dynamic and fast paced working environment. The knowledge gained from my law enforcement experience with the Department of Public Safety has shaped my ability to adapt quickly, work efficiently, think critically and work effectively as a part of a team or on my own. As a Part-time instructor at Middle Georgia State University, I provide undergraduate students with courses of instruction within the field of Criminal Justice. As a Lecturer, I am responsible for providing students with face-to-face lectures in a classroom setting or through online instruction.
