Biography: My name is Dr. Sharon Standridge (like Stand-on-a-ridge). Login to your D2L account on a daily basis to check email, learning modules, assignments, announcements, quizzes/exams, grades etc....

A little bit about me: I obtained a Ph.D. in 2005 from the University of Georgia, Athens, GA in Fungal Systematics where I studied the evolution of fungi. Ever eat a mushroom? I worked on their very small relatives called chytrids. I have been teaching since 2006 here in Cochran after a short postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa on Oahu. Why biology? Because I love biology!!!!! Biology was also the one class in high school that stuck in my head the best and I have a special place in my heart for microbes! I live in Cochran with my husband, Zach (Cybersecurity), our 6 year old daughter Elizabeth, Mischief the Cat, JoJo the Hamster and some fish. I grew up in Lawrenceville which is in Gwinnett County. I have a sister who lives in Columbia, SC with her husband, two sons and some cats. My mother also lives in Columbia and is a retired nurse. I am a sci-fi/fantasy nerd so I love Thor, Loki, Wonder Woman, Spock, Rogue One etc... I like to knit and cross stitch but my favorite thing to do is to read fantasy/science fiction novels. I am big on being organized and microbiologically aware (B.S in Microbiology from UGA 1998). I also have an addiction to Star Wars, Hello Kitty, Xbox, tabletop gaming, Anime, chocolate and Coca Cola.

Feel free to ask me any questions. Make sure to put my office hours into your phone along with my cell phone #478-308-6878. Now realize that I do have a life outside of school just like you so I may not always answer but leave a message (or send me a text but please send me your name and class each time you text!) and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Or send me an email here on D2L or my school webmail sharon.standridge@mga.edu or catch me during my office hours on Discord via Dr. Standridge's Office Hours Server on Discord. My Discord ID is Dr. Standridge #3862.
