Biography: My teaching and research interests lie at the intersection of public health, forensic nursing, and infectious disease, with a particular focus on sexually transmitted infections (STIs), COVID-19, and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) education. I am committed to advancing knowledge and clinical practice related to the prevention, diagnosis, and management of STIs, especially within vulnerable and underserved populations. The COVID-19 pandemic has further underscored the importance of robust infection control, trauma-informed care, and interdisciplinary education in healthcare settings.
In my teaching, I emphasize evidence-based practice, cultural competence, and trauma-informed approaches to care, particularly in the context of SANE training and forensic nursing. I strive to prepare nursing students and professionals to respond competently and compassionately to survivors of sexual violence, while also navigating complex public health challenges like emerging infectious diseases. My research explores the integration of infectious disease education into SANE curricula, the impact of COVID-19 on forensic nursing practice, and strategies to reduce STI transmission through community engagement and education.
Through both my teaching and research, I aim to contribute to improved patient outcomes, greater healthcare equity, and the development of nursing professionals who are well-equipped to serve on the frontlines of both public health and forensic care.
