Biography: I am a seasoned aviation professional with more than 27 years of combined military and civilian experience in air traffic control, leadership, and aviation education. Throughout my career, I have developed extensive knowledge of air traffic regulations, procedures, and technologies while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and the development of future air traffic controllers.

Currently, I serve as the Tower Chief and Air Traffic Control Instructor at Middle Georgia State University, an FAA Enhanced Air Traffic Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI) institution in Eastman, Georgia. In this role, I prepare students for careers in air traffic control by providing both classroom instruction and hands-on operational training. As a Certified Professional Controller (CPC), I teach FAA regulations, separation standards, phraseology, and safety procedures while also overseeing live traffic training to ensure students gain real-world operational experience. My teaching philosophy emphasizes experiential learning through simulation, scenario-based training, and real-time examples to develop students’ decision-making, situational awareness, and communication skills.

Prior to entering academia, I served in the United States Air Force from 1998 to 2010 as an Air Traffic Controller and Supervisory Air Traffic Control Specialist. I held leadership roles including Watch Supervisor, NCOIC of Training, and NCOIC of Standardization and Evaluation, where I supervised personnel, managed training programs, and ensured compliance with FAA, ICAO, and U.S. Air Force standards. My assignments included Ramstein Air Base, Germany, and Talil Air Base, Iraq, where I supported complex and high-tempo operations, including combat operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and have an M.A. in Applied Behavior Analysis, which supports my focus on effective training and human performance.
