Biography: | My name is Prof. Andrew P. Wright. I've been teaching History & Religion in college for over 23 years now & I can honestly say it is the best job I've ever had. Permit me to tell you a little bit about myself. I was born, raised & still live on a farm in Irwin County, a little place outside Ocilla called, Wray. I joined the US Army while in high school & shipped out right after graduation, serving overseas the entire time. I retired from Ga. Army National Guard in 2004. I was just an old Sgt. in a LRRP (Recon) unit. I earned both of my BA degrees (Anthropology & History w/Religious concentration) from West Ga. College. While there I was a Frater in Tau Kappa Epsilon, Xi Theta Chapter. I earned my MA in History (Religious Concentration) from Valdosta State Univ. & have 3 years of Ph.D. coursework in History & Religion. My wife & I were married for 21 years, 6 days, 10 hours & 40 minutes before she passed away in my arms. We have a beautiful 20-year-old daughter & a very active 17-year-old son. I like to hunt, fish, camp, read (comic books mainly), listen to Heavy Metal music, ride in my Jeep & 4x4 truck & play video games (my son constantly beats me & rubs it in)! I've been a Blacksmith since I was 12 years old, my Grandfather taught me. I have been an active Freemason for over 30 years, both York & Scottish Rite. When I was Knighted into the Royal Order of Scotland, May 2014, my daughter said I looked like she does on Christmas morning. My most recent Masonic accolade was Oct. 2023 when I was notified that I have been selected for the Societas Rosicruciana in Civitatibus Foederatis. I love teaching American History, we have had some very exciting times. Borrowing a lyric from one of my FAVORITE “80’s” bands, Tesla, I'm just a |
