About the Program

The Master of Social Work program at Middle Georgia State University prepares ethical, evidence-informed social workers through an Integrative Practice specialization that connects direct practice with community engagement, policy advocacy, and systems-level change. This intensive on-campus program is based at the Macon main campus and is designed to respond to the workforce and service needs of Middle Georgia. Students may complete the 48-credit Traditional pathway or, if eligible, the 30-credit Advanced Standing pathway. Classroom learning is integrated with supervised field education across individual, family, group, organizational, and community settings.

Tracks

  • Traditional Track — 48 Credit Hours
    The Traditional track includes 18 credit hours of generalist courses and 30 credit hours of specialized courses completed over five semesters.
  • Advanced Standing Track — 30 Credit Hours
    Eligible Advanced Standing students enter directly into the specialized courses, completed over three semesters.

  4. Two professional or academic recommendations from individuals familiar with the applicant’s aptitude for graduate education
  5. Statement of purpose addressing alignment with social work values and ethics, professional interests, and goals for graduate study
  6. Documentation of Lawful Presence, for Residents of Georgia
  7. English Proficiency, for International Students

*If you have a college transcript from MGA, you do not have to pay for or send your transcript to Admissions. 

  • Foreign transcripts must be submitted to an international credential evaluation service for a course-by-course evaluation to include GPA.
  • Transcripts must be sent by the institution directly to MGA. We do not accept transcripts sent by applicants.
