Biography: Dr. Richard Kilburn is a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at Middle Georgia State University, where he has taught for the past eleven years. Prior to joining MGA, he taught high school mathematics in central Georgia for eleven years.

Dr. Kilburn is actively engaged in institutional and community service. He has served for several years on the Faculty Senate, including two years as Faculty Senate Chair, contributed to the creation of the Chair’s Council, served as the mathematics liaison for the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), and supported outreach initiatives such as the MGA Math Olympics and a long-standing elementary school rocketry club.
Teaching and Research Interests: Dr. Kilburn's teaching areas include undergraduate mathematics courses. His scholarly and professional interests include mathematics education, curriculum development, effective instructional practices, and supporting student success, with particular emphasis on strengthening the transition between secondary and postsecondary mathematics. He is especially passionate about partnering with local schools and school systems to expand access to dual-enrollment opportunities and to support college readiness in mathematics.
