Biography: Dr. Wyatt is an Associate Professor of Nursing and currently serves as faculty in the Department of Nursing at Middle Georgia State University. Dr. Wyatt has 20 years of experience in academia and 31 years as a Registered Nurse. In the academic setting, she has taught in a Practical Nursing diploma program, as well as the Associate of Science Registered Nurse program. Clinical practice roles include staff nurse, charge nurse, and Director of Clinical Staff Education in multiple clinical areas within a community hospital and home health settings.
Dr. Wyatt obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1993 from Georgia College followed by a Master of Science in Adult Health/Nursing Education from Georgia College & State University in 2002. She completed her terminal degree with a Doctorate in Nursing Education from the University of West Georgia in 2018. Her doctoral research study focused on the effects of organizational change in nursing education.
In 2010, Dr. Wyatt began her career at Middle Georgia State University teaching in the Associate of Science in Nursing program. She was instrumental in developing the ASN curriculum that evolved from the consolidation of two state institutions into the current university. She has taught in every course across the ASN curriculum including Fundamentals, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Behavioral Health, Womens/Childrens Health, Leadership, and Dosage Calculations. Her creative passion for teaching and learning is evident through the instruction she has provided in the classroom, nursing simulation, and clinical settings.
Currently, Dr. Wyatt serves as the Clinical Coordinator for the Department of Nursing and works to maintain relationships and clinical learning opportunities with community healthcare facilities. Her work ensures that students have a variety of institutions and options to practice the art and science of nursing. Additionally, she serves as a mentor to new nursing faculty to assist with the growth from clinician to teacher.
