Dr. Ben Corpus
Dr. Ben Corpus has joined Middle Georgia State University (MGA) as vice president for Enrollment Management, bringing more than 25 years of higher education leadership experience in institutional strategy, enrollment growth, academic partnerships, student success, organizational transformation, and the expansion of educational opportunity.
Following a national search, Corpus joined MGA in July after serving as vice president for Enrollment Management & Student Affairs at California State University, Monterey Bay, where he led the reversal of a decade-long enrollment decline while generating an additional $26 million in institutional revenue, achieving the highest application rate increase in the CSU system, and enrolling the most students in the university’s history.
His appointment comes as MGA continues expanding its commitment to student success through new initiatives and programs that support students from admission through graduation while preparing them for meaningful careers and expanding educational opportunities throughout the region.
The appointment also reflects the University's continued investment in innovative leadership to support its growth and long-term success.
"Dr. Corpus has demonstrated throughout his career that strategic enrollment management requires a collaborative, university-wide approach that connects academic quality, student success, institutional strategy, and economic mobility,” said Dr. Christopher Blake, MGA’s president. “His experience developing innovative, data-informed strategies across complex institutions, together with his deep commitment to expanding opportunity, makes him an outstanding addition to our leadership team. He will help us build upon the momentum of our efforts to strengthen student success across all five campuses and position Middle Georgia State for its next chapter of growth and impact.”
Before joining Cal State Monterey Bay, Corpus served as vice provost for Enrollment Management at Florida Polytechnic University. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership positions at The University of Texas at Austin, Baruch College of the City University of New York, and Hostos Community College.
Corpus also brings faculty and academic leadership experience. He was a tenured associate professor, chair of the Department of Student Personnel, and, as vice president, led strategic academic initiatives at Baruch College.
“Middle Georgia State University occupies a distinctive place at the intersection of educational opportunity, workforce development, and regional prosperity,” Corpus said. “Within one of the nation’s leading public university systems, MGA has both the reach and the opportunity to help shape Georgia’s future. I am honored to join President Blake and this accomplished leadership team to strengthen the full student journey, beginning with a student’s first consideration of MGA, continuing through degree completion, career success, and lifelong connection to the University. Enrollment management is a university-wide commitment to public value, academic quality, belonging, and success for students from every background. I look forward to working with everyone on campus, as well as Georgia’s educational, community, and industry partners to advance the University's commitment to student success, expand economic mobility, and position MGA for sustained growth and even greater impact.”
Corpus earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education Policy & Governance from New York University, a master's degree in Higher Education Policy from the University at Albany (SUNY), and a bachelor's degree in philosophy and psychology from Oswego State University (SUNY). He also completed executive leadership programs at Harvard University and remains active in several national higher education organizations.
