Cash Barr is a name you won't forget, and an MGA student you won't either. Cashun “Cash” Barr, a senior, is preparing for a career as a commercial airline pilot while making his mark as a campus leader.
Full Name: Cashun "Cash" Barr.
Age: 23.
Hometown: Charleston, S.C.
Residence: Douglasville, Ga.
Employment: Community assistant for MGA’s Housing & Residence Life office, U.S. Army Reservist.
Degree Objective: Bachelor of Science in Aviation Science and Management.
Class Rank: Senior.
Primary Campus: Cochran.
Activities: President, Student Government Association; Phi Beta Sigma; Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals past president. "What motivates me to be so active as a student is knowing and understanding that my college experience is what I pour into it. I wanted to have an experience that allowed me to walk away with more than my pilot certificates and a degree. College is about being able to navigate, network, and make use of the available resources.
"I got involved with SGA because I knew it was the avenue for change. I want students to know and realize that we as a collective hold the power to having a college experience WE deserve."
Career Goals: To be a captain of a 787 Dreamliner at United Airlines.
He chose Middle Georgia State University because … “MGA has Georgia's flagship aviation school! There is no place I’d rather be.”
The greatest thing he discovered about Middle Georgia State was … “The sense of community and seeing how much faculty and staff want me to succeed. MGA offers any number of resources to help students.”
His greatest academic experience as a Middle Georgia State student has been … “Taking the upset recovery course as part of the flight program. The course built my confidence and allowed me to enjoy a break from the more routine training.”
To him, greatness means … “Being the change that YOU want to see. A lot of people have issues and enjoy complaining. I am all for complaints but we should try to resolve issues. Change can come through one person or by group effort. That is greatness to me.”
In five years … “I should be a captain at JetSuiteX Airlines, almost ready to transition to United Airlines!”
